Larry R. Smith Sr., age 65 of Germantown, passed away at home on Monday, November 7, 2016. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sharon Smith; children, Cheryl Alvarez (Ahmed Al-Bukhatra Sr.) and Larry Smith Jr.; grandchildren, Elena and Sara Alvarez and AJ Al-Bukhatra; his best friend/dog, Roxie, special niece, Chrissy Rogers and best friends Tim and Lisa Delph, who he thought of as family.
Larry was born December 3, 1950 unto Margaret Russell Smith and Woodrow Smith in Urbana, OH. He was raised by his maternal aunt and uncle Jean and Charlie McLaughlin. Through them he was given four brothers and two sisters. His four parents and brothers Chuck, Richie, Davie and Stevie all preceded him in death. He is survived by sisters Terry (Dennis) Shutts, Lisa Mattern and sister-in-law Emily Cordle.
Larry was a diesel mechanic by trade and a true NASCAR fan at heart-speaking of the wonders of Dale Earnhardt until the end.
He was a friend to many and loved by all who were blessed to know him. He is also survived by his best friends Tim and Lisa Delph who he thought of as family.
"When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure." He left us with so many treasures.
