Larry D. Rowland, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on September 14 2024, at his home in Vandalia, Ohio. Born on December 9, 1941, in Evarts, Kentucky, Larry's journey through life was marked by a devotion to his family and a passion for life's simple joys.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Rowland, whose unwavering support and companionship were the cornerstones of his life. His legacy lives on through his children, Paul Rowland, Julie Rowland, Phillip Rowland, and Tim Rowland. Larry took great pride in his role as a grandfather, and he cherished the moments spent with his grandchildren: Amanda Kerfoot, Stella Tankis, Crystal Rowland, Paul Rowland Jr., Justin Rowland, and Caitlyn Sandy. The joy of being a great-grandfather brought additional light to his life, with great-grandchildren Danny Grant, Ray Rowland, Camden Kerfoot, Audrina Kerfoot, Caleb Kerfoot, and Lyla Sandy holding a special place in his heart. Larry is also survived by his brothers, Robert Rowland and Michael Rowland, who share in the fond memories of their dear sibling.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Edna Napier and Herman Rowland, and his son, Danny Rowland, whose absence was felt deeply. He was also mourned by his sisters, Ruth Trosper and Sue Griffith, who have preceded him in passing.
Throughout his life, Larry enjoyed various hobbies that brought him happiness and connection. He loved to play poker and often found joy in visiting the local casino. Larry had a particular fondness for nature, finding delight in watching the hummingbirds come to his window, a reflection of his appreciation for life's wonders.
Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate Larry's remarkable life. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM with a funeral service to follow, all at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424. Larry will be laid to rest at Dayton Memorial Park.
Larry D. Rowland will be remembered with love and respect, not only for the roles he played within his family but also for his zest for life and the kindness he shared with all who knew him. His spirit will continue to inspire those he leaves behind, and he will be deeply missed.
