Larry Bridges, a devoted family man and a proud veteran, passed away on September 28, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 82. Born on March 13, 1943, in Dayton, Larry lived a life characterized by selflessness, humor, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones.
After completing his education at Belmont High School as a member of the class of 1961, Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he dedicated 35 years to a fulfilling career at General Motors, where he earned a reputation for his strong work ethic.
Larry was known for being a stubborn yet loving individual, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was the best storyteller, captivating those around him with his tales and laughter. His humor brought joy to his family and friends, while his devotion as a grandparent was unparalleled. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, Madison and Bradley, taking pride in being their beloved Papaw. He never missed a chance to support them in their sports and interests.
In addition to his family life, Larry enjoyed spending quality time with lifelong friends, including Tom Taylor, Bill St. John and Jose Marin as well as his cherished neighborhood friends. He had a passion for NASCAR and found peace in fishing.
Larry is survived by his loving son, Brad Bridges and daughter-in-law, Andrea; his grandchildren, Madison (Asher) Bridges, and Bradley Bridges; and his brother, Dennis Michael (Sharon) Bridges. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends who will deeply miss him.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Devoe Bridges; his mother, Willie Mae Bridges; and his sister, Nancy Thompson.
A visitation will be held in Larry's honor on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by a memorial service at 12:30 PM, at Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek, Ohio, located at 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd, Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Larry will be laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery following the service with full military honors.
His legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
