Ladis Pittl

With heavy hearts and deep appreciation for a life well-lived, we remember and celebrate Ladis Pittl, who passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, in Vandalia, Ohio, just three days after his 88th birthday. Born on July 16, 1938, in Vukovar, Yugoslavia, Ladis's life journey was one of steadfast commitment and profound love for those dear to him.

Ladis built a lifetime defined by resilience, care, and integrity. His decades-long career in the manufacturing industry was a testament to his work ethic and determination—a quiet legacy written through more than thirty years of dedication. Those who worked alongside him remember not only his expertise but also his unwavering sense of responsibility and the respect he extended to all.

While Ladis excelled in his professional endeavors, it was his role as a father that brought him his deepest sense of pride and fulfillment. He is survived by his children: Corinda Pittl and Randy (Tammy) Pittl. In their lives, his gentle guidance, patience, and unconditional support live on—a testament to the fatherly love that shaped them and made their own worlds brighter.

Ladis is also survived by his brother, Rudy (Reta) Pittl; brother-in-law: Dean (Margaret) Gray; sisters-in-law: Arlene Perkins and Marilyn Gray Brock; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Katharina Pittl; and his wife, Virginia Pittl.

Every story has its origins, and it was in Vukovar that Ladis learned the values he would carry throughout his life: hard work, humility, and compassion. Although his journey ultimately brought him to Ohio, he carried the memories of his birthplace in his heart always—a reminder of roots and new beginnings. Ladis was a man of great faith. While staying near to his Catholic roots, Ladis enjoyed visiting all types of churches and learning about different religions.

Ladis enjoyed gardening and especially loved his tomatoes and peppers. He enjoyed going to farmers markets and looked forward to conversations with those he would meet during grocery store visits.

Those privileged to know Ladis remember his kindness and the strength of his character. Whether sharing a quiet word of encouragement or offering help before it was ever requested, he was the kind of man whose actions spoke volumes. The warmth of his presence will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Though his physical journey has ended, Ladis Pittl’s spirit continues on—in cherished memories, in the values he imparted, and most profoundly, in the hearts of Corinda and Randy. His life’s work is seen in their triumphs, his lessons reflected in their character.

As his family and friends gather in the days ahead, they celebrate not just a life’s achievements but a legacy of love, perseverance, and quiet strength. Ladis’s journey from Vukovar to Dayton tells a story of remarkable resilience and hope—one that now finds peace, surrounded by the love he gave so generously.

Private services will be held for the family on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton.
