Kevin Daniel Schmitz

Kevin Daniel Schmitz, of Piqua, Ohio, passed away on October 30, 2026, in Dayton. He was born on April 5, 1983, in Dallas, Texas. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a caring family member, and a man whose life was deeply shaped by his commitment to helping others.

Helping others was a central focus of Kevin’s life, and that calling was reflected in the work he chose to do. His career allowed him to reach out and support those in need as a Juvenile Rehabilitation Specialist at West Central in Troy and Greene County in Xenia. He also worked for Upper Valley Medical Center as a Patient Intake Specialist. In each of these roles, he brought compassion and purpose to his daily work, leaving an impression on those whose lives he touched.

Outside of work, sports were a main part of Kevin’s life. He was an avid fan of football, wrestling, and baseball, and he took great enjoyment in following the games and athletes he loved. He also enjoyed fishing in his free time and liked shopping. At home, he found companionship and happiness with his dogs, whom he loved dearly.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Yvonne (Lipps) Schmitz, who shared his life and love. He is also survived by his parents, Kenneth and Kristina (Torres) Schmitz; sister, Kathryn (Eric) Brockman; along with nieces and nephews, Alexander Brockman, Nicholas Wile, Maxson Lipps, Alyssa Brockman, Marie Wile, Stella Wile, McKenna Lipps, Mia Lipps, Molly Lipps, and Sarah Lipps; and numerous extended family members and friends. The love of his family surrounded him throughout his life, and his memory will remain close to all who knew him.

A visitation will be held from 4:00PM to 6:00PM on Tuesday, November 17, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, OH 45424. A Mass will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, November 18, 2026 at Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic Church, 1033 W 5th St, Marysville, OH 43040 with a Rosary Prayer to begin at 10:30AM. 

Kevin will be remembered for his caring spirit, his love of family, his enjoyment of sports and fishing, and the kindness he extended to others through both his work and his everyday life. His presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
