Listen to Obituary

On November 4, 2026, this world lost a brilliant soul. Kenneth (Ken) L Nickell, 83, of Xenia OH, departed this earth surrounded by love and loved ones. He was a husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He joined his mother Lena and father Arnold Nickell, as well as his brothers Jimmie and Arnold. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, children: Philip, Sarah, Carrie and Melanie, and grandchildren, Brigid, Chloe, Emma, Sophie, William, Garrus, and Joel.

He was born August 16, 1943, in Middletown to Mother Lena and Father Arnold Nickell. He graduated from Miamisburg High School in 1962.

Ken married Jennifer on July 17, 1965, and were married for 61 years. Ken dutifully served his country in the Army and was deployed during the Vietnam War from January 1965 to January 1967. When he returned, he worked at General Motors and retired in 1998 and began working at Xenia Warner Middle School as a custodian where he retired a second time. He was an active member of St. Brigid Church. He loved fishing, camping and listening to music. His true calling was as a husband, father, and grandfather. He was a proud, dependable coach, teacher, handyman, mentor, playmate, and outstanding role model to his children and grandchildren. He was a source of light and positivity for everyone he met. He left a mark in every person’s life he walked into because of who he was. He lived his life as a beacon of kindness and generosity, tirelessly supporting anyone who needed help, never expecting anything in return. He was a source of positivity and hope even to his last moments with us. He never wavered.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Kettering Medical Center, specifically CTCU, CICU and 4 North West, for all of their love and care during this difficult time.
