Kenneth (Ken) Charles Blessing, age 74, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026 in Kettering, Ohio. He was born on June 16, 1952 to the late Jean Henry and Margaret Ann (Lux) Blessing. Also preceding him in death are his paternal grandparents Albert Charles Blessing and Leona Regina (Beck) Blessing-Tritschler and maternal grandparents Kenneth Edward Lux and Mary Cecilia (Gerleman) Lux.
Living the majority of his young life in the Dayton, Ohio area, Ken was a 1972 graduate of Wayne High School in Huber Heights. He voluntarily joined the United States Army after graduating, choosing the profession of radio repairman. Ken received basic training in Fort Knox, Kentucky and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia and also in Germany. He proudly served until 1975 ranking as an E-5 Sergeant. Ken moved to Michigan after leaving the military and worked for Valenite and owned Dawn Machine.
Ken is best described, by those who knew him, as innovative (he held several patents), an outdoorsman (he enjoyed fishing, boating, jet-skiing, scuba diving, relaxing on the beach, quadriding) and a singer (he loved Karoke & singing “Secret Agent Man”). He liked to watch countless episodes of Alfred Hitchcock, Hogan’s Heroes, Dr. Who and The Pink Panther. Reading his favorite magazine, Popular Mechanics, gave him the passion to “tinker”, “fix”, “build” and “re-build” both model and real cars . He especially enjoyed restoring classic cars, his first being a 1932 Model A Victoria. A 1955 & 1957 T-Bird, 1958 Corvette and a 1989 DeLorean were also projects that followed. He also was a member of an Old Cars guys club when he lived in Oxford, MI. Every morning, he would meet with the other club members for coffee and discuss different things. He loved that a lot!
Ken is survived by his wife Alla Sharkova-Blessing of Burton, MI, son Nicholas Jean (Lindsey) Blessing of Battlecreek, MI, daughter Sarah Marie (Jeremy) Mustakas of Brooklyn, NY, step-son Maksim (Max) Novoseltsev of Burton, MI, (6) grandchildren: Olivia Blessing, Gabriel Blessing, Isaiah Blessing, Leo Mustakas, Alexander Mustakas and Nora Mustakas, mother of his children, Beth Bunton of Davison, MI (5) sisters: Christine Martines of Cumming, GA, Linda Varvel-Reeser of Dayton, Janet Burkhart (Georgie Starr) of Denver, CO, Maria Blessing of Columbus and Angelee (Gary) Adams of Dayton, (3) brothers: Daryl Blessing of Kettering, Kevin (Brenda) Blessing of Celina and Dean (Sheryl) Blessing of Springfield, a host of nieces and nephews, special Army friends Eric (Joan) Exner and Dave Straub along with numerous friends and acquaintances.
