Kelly L. Collins

August 4, 1960 — August 25, 2019

Kelly Lyn Collins (59) of Dayton, Ohio passed away August 25, 2019 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family.

Kelly is survived by his wife of 28 years Christie, daughters Nicole, Lindsey, and Kaylie, son Chase, brother Jerry (Shirley) Collins, sister Valeria (Paul Thompson) Collins, sister Cordelia (Mike) Beal, and many loving extended family members.

Kelly was preceded in death by his daughter Javetta, son Kelly Charles, parents Kelly and Mattie Collins, and his sister Martha Shay.

If you ever spoke to Kelly, you would know how much he loved, admired, and bragged about his children. He coached every single sport his children were ever involved in, even going the extra mile to watch VHS coaching videos on sports he had never played himself. Once his kids went to high school, he put the same amount of energy into the Carroll band program, where he volunteered in pit crew and drove the band semi-truck to every football game, competition, and band camp. He loved the band program so much that even after his kids graduated he continued to drive the band semi-truck every weekend.

Two of Kelly's favorite past-times were watching the Bengals with his wife and taking his family on vacation to the beach. Anyone that found themselves at a bonfire with Kelly was in for an unexpected deep and personal conversation into the wee hours of the morning; but they always left the next day a better person with excellent life advice.

Kelly's love for Christie and his devotion to the Lord set a wonderful example of what it means to love with unconditional zeal. His family feels blessed to have been loved and raised so well by such an incredible man.

A special thank you to the people at Hospice of Dayton for their loving care and support during his final days.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek on Friday, August 30th. Funeral services for Kelly will be at Ascension Catholic Church in Kettering on Saturday August 31st at 10:00 AM. Kelly will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.

Kelly viewed the Carroll High School band as a family, so in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Carroll High School Music Department.
