Listen to Obituary

Keith Allen Mackintosh met his Lord and Savior face to face on Saturday, September 20, 2025. Keith was born September 23,1946 in Los Angeles, CA to Alexander Colin Mackintosh and Eunice Bryant. At the age of 3 he moved to a farm in Herrick, Illinois where he was raised. At the age of 15 he met Jeannie Coleman of Pana, IL and they dated until he graduated Herrick High School in 1965. They were married October 2, 1965. Three months later his draft number was pulled for the Vietnam War, and he and some friends joined the Navy. He was sent to Naval Station Great Lakes for training and was then stationed in Boston, MA and deployed to the Mediterranean. In December 1967 while standing watch off the waters of Greece he was handed a telegram saying his son was born.

Honorably discharged from the Navy in 1969, he and Jeannie moved back to Pana, IL where he worked as a meat cutter. They attended First Baptist Church and it was here that he first started working with the youth at the church. Over the next couple of years it became clear that youth ministry was his true calling and he followed God’s lead to Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, IA. Following graduation, Keith and Jeannie began their years of ministry-first at Faith Baptist Church in Topeka, KS, followed by Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kansas City, KS, Calvary Baptist Church in Highland, IN, and Centerville Community Church in Centerville, OH. While primarily his focus over the years was youth ministry, he also served as youth camp director, led small groups ministry, wrote curriculum, and led numerous short-term missions trip. He also served in various leadership roles in Missions Mobilization and youth initiatives for the National Office of the Christian and Missionary Alliance.

Keith’s heart beat for missions and he loved leading teams to share the Gospel. He traveled from Native American reservations to the hills of Kentucky to the mountains of Ecuador, and to Senegal and Mexico to name a few.

Keith is deeply loved by the family that he has left behind. He’s survived by his wife of 60 years, Jeannie, his son Chris (Kathi), grandchildren Caleb, Nathan, and Kiersten (Isaiah Swain) who all will miss his hugs, laughter and encouragement. He is also survived by his brother Bruce (Audrey) and sisters-in law Nancy Springman, Sheila Maton (Tom) and Venita Buchholtz (Steve) and many nieces and nephews. Keith is preceded in death by his sister (Charlene Houghton).

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 3rd at Centerville Community Church, 10688 Dayton Lebanon Pike, Centerville, OH 45458. There will be a time of visitation from 10am-12pm and the service will begin at 12pm. The service will be followed by a private family burial.
