Keith P. Cruze

Keith P. Cruze, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 80. Born on November 25, 1945, in Wilmington, his life was defined by his strong commitment to family, steadfast work ethic, and the positive impact he made in all spheres of his life.

Keith’s early years were formative, laying the foundation for a lifetime of achievement and personal growth. He graduated from Fairmont High School in Kettering, demonstrating a determined pursuit of education and self-improvement. He advanced his technical expertise by attending RETS, where he earned his certification in HVAC. This training would become essential to his successful career in heating and air conditioning. 

Keith served his country with honor as a member of the United States Army, a period that instilled in him a deep sense of duty and responsibility. After his military service, Keith embarked on a notable professional journey. He held the position of Foreman in the Inland Division at General Motors for many years, where his leadership and dedication earned the respect of his colleagues. Driven by entrepreneurial spirit, Keith founded his own business, Cruze Climate Control, providing quality and expertise in every project he undertook.

Throughout his life, Keith was widely admired for his many talents and passions. He had a deep love for restoring classic cars, taking special pride in his Grand Prix. Music was another cherished pursuit; he was an accomplished drummer who played in the band Soul, Inc. His appreciation for the outdoors was evident in his enjoyment of fishing. 

Devotion to family was central in Keith’s life. He was selfless as he always placed the needs of his loved ones above his own, working tirelessly to support and provide for them. Keith’s great sense of humor brightened the lives of those around him, and he found genuine joy in seeing and making others laugh.

Keith is survived by his loving daughter, Heather Swaim; sons, Shawn Cruze and Brent Cruze; granddaughters, Danielle Swaim, Kelsey Johnson, and Grace Rowland; grandson, Austin Swaim; great-grandson, Colten Swaim; and great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Lane. He is also survived by his sisters, Karen Martin and Rita (Richard) Davidson, as well as the mother of his children and dear friend, Donna Cruze,

He is preceded in death by his father, Clarence Cruze; mother, Wilma (Foster) Cruze; brothers, Clarence W. Cruze, Deane D. Cruze, and Neil P. Cruze; and sisters, Elaine Kelly, Jaqueline Lund, and Beverly Cook.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering, located at 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, Ohio. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the same location. Keith will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery, 725 Upper Miamisburg Road, Miamisburg, Ohio where US Army Honors will be rendered. In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made out to Hospice of Dayton in memory of Keith. 

Keith P. Cruze's life will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty, industrious spirit, kindness, and his ability to bring warmth and laughter to any room. His legacy endures in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know him.
