Karen Sue Harshman

Karen Sue Harshman, of Dayton, passed away on September 10, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio. She was born on October 30, 1953, in Dayton.

Karen was a graduate of Fairmont East High School and devoted much of her working life to the Dayton Daily News, where she retired after 43 years in the Classified Ads Department. Her long career reflected her steady dedication and commitment.

She found joy in traveling all over the country and especially loved seeing lighthouses along the way. Karen also had a special love for her beloved Beagles and always had one by her side. She was an avid sports fan who faithfully cheered for the Miami Dolphins and the LA Dodgers.

Karen is survived by her sister, Sharon Salyers; her brother, Kenneth “Don” Harshman and his wife, Arlene; her nieces, Kelley Harshman, Jill Barton and her husband, Scott, Susan Solle and her husband, Jeff, and Laura Steele; and her nephew, Alan Harshman and his wife, Patty. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Harshman, and her father, Kenneth Harshman. She will be remembered with love by her family and by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on September 19, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering, 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, Ohio 45439. A funeral service will begin there at 11:00 a.m. Karen will be laid to rest at Mt Zion Shoup Cemetery.
