Listen to Obituary

June Barbara Hoffmaier, 85, of Beavercreek, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, at Hospice of Dayton. Born on October 24, 1940, in New York, New York, she was the cherished daughter of the late Paul and Waltraut Teumer.

June's life was a testament to love and devotion. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 64 years, John Hoffmaier. Together, they built a beautiful family, including daughters Karen (Doug) Powell, Lisa (Tim) Shafer, and Christine (Randy) Shook. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jessica Powell, Jacob Powell, Joshua (Alie) Powell; Luke (Anahita) Shafer, Logan (Francesca) Shafer, Nicholas (Lindsey) Shafer, Annie Shook, Kara Shook, and Madison Shook; and 6 great-grandchildren, Michael Powell, Rudi Powell, Imra Powell, Tobias Powell, Lauren Powell, and Barnabas Shafer. She also leaves behind numerous extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Lorraine.

June's graduated from Richmond Hills High School in Queens, New York in 1958. She then embarked on a diverse career with Bankers Trust, American Airlines, Centerville City Schools, and NCR. She and John began their life together on June 24, 1962, moving to Ohio in 1977 to raise their family.

June delighted in adventures, with fond memories of beach vacations to the Outer Banks and RV trips to Alaska, her favorite place to visit. Her zest for life was seen in 18 cruises shared with John and her early enjoyment of handball, racquetball, and bowling. Whether keeping score for John's softball team or watching musicals and Hallmark movies, June embraced every moment with joy. A singer at heart, she graced the church choir and often sang spontaneously, filling spaces with her melodies.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially at weekly dinners. Known for her empathetic nature and warm humor, June's love and patience touched everyone who knew her. Though her presence will be sorely missed, her spirit remains in the hearts of all who loved her.
