Judith A. Schlenk

February 17, 1940 — April 13, 2024

On February 17th 1940 at 11:00 p.m. Judith Ann Schlenk arrived on Earth. Her father, Marvel Smith /age 21, worked as a train conductor for the Pennsylvania Railroad Company. He crossed over in 1980. Her mother, Alberta Ault /age 17, was a house mom. She passed when Judith was just 8 years old, from leukemia. Her father remarried Phyllis whom he had two more children; Wendy and David both have passed. David was married to Bonnie and they shared a son, Scott Smith. Later Marvel and Phyllis divorced and he married again a woman named Doris whom Judith adored; she crossed over in 1999.

Judith grew into a beautiful and straight forward woman that didn't take no for an answer and only reached for things that brought her joy. She married Dan Schlenk on June 2nd 1958 and went on to have 3 children together. Debra /born in 1959, passed in 2011. Daniel /born in 1960. Steven /born in 1964. They went on to give her 5 grandkids; Jason /born in 1978 and wife April Reker, Andrew Reker /born in1980 passed in 2021, Stephen /born in 1982 and wife Rebecca Deis, Jessica Wise /born in 1986, Michael /born in 1989 and wife Marqui Schlenk. Those 5 grandchildren went on to give her 12 great grandchildren; Kaelyn, Raven, Lilly, Tristan, Seth, Devin, Jade, Stephen Jr, Britney, Briana, Kaitlyn, and Chandler.

Judi worked in the medical field for a total of 40 years as a unit clerk for both Kettering hospital and Miami Valley hospital. She also did a short stint as a semi-truck driver to prove a point….that a woman can too. She divorced Dan in 1972 but married again in 2001 to Albert "Horse" Samaniego whom she divorced in 2002. She never remarried but instead enjoyed a life filled with traveling, good friends (like Linda, her only living childhood friend), family, and pets she held dear to her heart. She fell in love many times but preferred a life alone.
She was a lover of Native American culture and held onto her spiritual beliefs throughout life. She was always the life of the party; always laughing and smiling, down to have a good time filled with good food and even better people. She spent many years playing in dart leagues with her friends and family in her down time. She was the description of what it means to be a strong independent woman.

Judi was diagnosed with Alzheimer's dementia which made the last few years difficult, but she faced it by laughing at herself often while untangling the web of confusion within her mind. Even in those confusing moments she still enjoyed playing bingo at the Kettering Recreation Center and attending dollar burger night at The American Legion post 598, where she was a member.

Judith Ann Schlenk crossed over on April 13th 2024 at 8:12 a.m.
