Listen to Obituary

Juanita "Skeeter" Lee Murray, a beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, in her hometown of Dayton, Ohio. Born on July 26, 1964, to Fay Cannon and her stepfather Milton "Fergie" Ferguson, Juanita's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with laughter, love, and cherished memories.

For 36 years, she dedicated herself to her role as a restocking manager at Kroger, where her kindness and sense of humor brightened the days of countless coworkers and customers alike. Those who had the pleasure of working alongside her knew her as a caring and humorous presence who made each day just a bit more enjoyable.

Juanita was a true animal lover, with a unique spirit that drew her to all creatures great and small. Her adventures often took her to Gatlinburg, a place where she would revel in the beauty of nature and try to coax bears from afar with her gentle warmth. An enthusiastic participant in various hobbies, her interests included embroidery, photography, and riding motorcycles alongside her husband, Raymond Murray, whom she cherished for 36 wonderful years. Together, they shared many joyful moments, including one memorable bike ride that spiraled into an accidental journey to Illinois, only to discover upon arrival that helmets were mandatory. In classic Skeeter fashion, they quickly turned around to ensure they were following the law, turning what could have been stressful into a moment of laughter.

Education remained important to Juanita throughout her life. She graduated from Belmont High School in 1982 and pursued further studies at Sinclair Community College, focusing on data entry and photography. Her talents in photography were not only a passion but also a way for her to capture the beauty of the world around her.

Family was the cornerstone of Juanita’s pride and joy. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Ray, their son RJ, who's girlfriend is Ashley Wysong, and their beloved fur baby, Sturgis. Juanita's caring nature extended beyond her immediate family; she also maintained close ties with her niece-in-law, June Cannon, and often spoke of her late nephew, Chuck Cannon, who played a significant role in bringing her and Ray together. She is also survived by many extended family and friends who will deeply miss her.

As an ardent supporter of her Tennessee Volunteers and Kentucky Wildcats, she found camaraderie in rooting for her teams alongside loved ones. Whether it was a thrilling game or a quiet moment at home, Juanita's supportive spirit was felt by all who knew her. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and the unwavering strength of family.

Juanita will be deeply missed by all who loved her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life. Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life during visitation on December 13, 2025, from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM, held at Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek, Ohio.
