Joyce A. Book

Joyce A. (Funderburk) Book, 76, of Dayton, OH. went to be with the Lord, May 7, 2017 at her residence with her loving family by her side. Joyce was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 31, 1940 to Merle and Olga (Zarling) Funderburk. She married Jack Book on May 10, 1959 in Las Vegas, Nevada and they were married 58 years.

Joyce graduated from John Marshall High School in Hollywood, CA in June of 1959. She retired from the Dayton Municipal Court System as a Deputy Clerk of Courts in 2000. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, befriending homeless cats (she was referred to as the "Crazy Cat Woman"), and enjoyed playing cards, especially Skip-Bo with family. Joyce loved family get togethers and enjoyed traveling. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by husband, Jack; two daughters, Joyce Ann (Paul) Dziedzic and Jill (Scott) Wheeler; three sons, Jack (Jeannine) Book, Jr., Jeff (Michelle) Book and Jason (Heather) Book; sixteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren and one on the way; three sisters, Judy Wood, Janet Olson and Barbara (Keith) Williams; a brother, Jonas Funderburk; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Cassel Hills Church of Christ, 836 South Brown School Road, Vandalia, OH at 9:45 am with Minister David Edmonds officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 8:45 to 9:45 am at the church. Burial will follow at Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, OH. Arrangements are in the care of Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory-North Chapel.
