Joy Michelle Damron, 39, of Huber Heights Ohio, passed away January 7, 2018 at her home.
Joy was born on January 22, 1978 in Richlands, Virginia to Jerry L. and Judy G. (White) Damron.
She was a graduate of Lebanon High School, Lebanon, Virginia.
Joy served fourteen years in the United States Army. Her assignments included: Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, AIT at Redstone Arsenal Huntsville, Alabama, Fort Stewart, Georgia, Germany, Fort Hood, Texas, and Fort Riley, Kansas. She served overseas in Operation Enduring Freedom and ended her military career with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer II.
She loved being in the military, a step in life she proudly took, following in her big brother's footsteps. She made many friends during her time at different duty stations and was active in helping with many veteran programs to include, Mission 22, at the time of her death.
Joy loved the WWE, NASCAR Racing, her favorite driver being #24 Jeff Gordon, and fast cars. Her GTO being a prized possession. She had an infectious laugh and an even bigger smile!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Judy, maternal grandparents William and Dorothy (Lester) White, and paternal grandparents George and Emma (Miller) Damron.
She is survived by her son, Cameron R. Edwards of Wiesbaden, Germany. Her beloved Yorkie, Skippy Jon Jones, Tipp City, Ohio. Brother, Jerry L. Damron II (Harmony), Tipp City, Ohio. Aunt Janice Bowling (Dan) of Tazewell, Virginia, Aunt Charlene Hewitt (Tom), Florence, South Carolina and Aunt Freida Garland of Crescent City, Florida. Nieces, Charlotte and Avery Damron and Nephew, Landon Damron of Tipp City, Ohio. Many cousins, friends, and military service members, both active duty and retired.
Interment will be in the summer of 2018 at the White Family Cemetery in Belfast Virginia.
