Joseph Devlune Wilson, a devoted family man, departed this world on March 5, 2026, at the age of 57. Born on August 7, 1968, in Dayton, Ohio, Joseph lived a life rooted in hard work and love, embracing the simple pleasures that brought him joy.
Having entered military service at the age of 18, Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Army for four years. A talented musician, he played in the band of the Army National Guard, where he forged lifelong friendships while sharing his passion for music. Joseph’s remarkable dedication to both his career and his community truly reflected the values instilled in him during his formative years.
As an automotive test driver, Joseph approached his work with the same diligence and commitment he applied to all aspects of his life. In his free time, Joseph enjoyed riding his bike and collecting coins. He valued the intricacies of his profession, finding satisfaction in his hands-on contributions to the world of cars. Yet, it was the warmth of his family that brought him the greatest happiness. He is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne Wilson, who stood faithfully by his side through thick and thin. Together, they created a nurturing environment for their children: son Logan Wilson and daughters Ashley (Jason Saylor) Bowman and Kaitlyn (Brad Couch) Bowman, who overflow with cherished memories of their father’s love and unwavering support. He also leaves to cherish his memory, grandchildren, Amelia, Leo, and Callum.
Joseph's family was his greatest treasure, supported by his brother Walt Wilson and sisters Karen "Kei Kei" Wilson and KC Wilson. The bond they shared was strengthened not only by their affection for one another but also by the countless adventures and laughter they experienced together. His legacy will continue through his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who carry his spirit forward.
Though he faced the loss of his beloved mother, Beverley Wilson, father, Walter Wilson, and brother, Benjamin Wilson, Joseph remained steadfast in his appreciation for life, holding dear the values and memories imparted by those who have gone before him.
Visitation will take place on March 11, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Dayton, located at 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH. Following the visitation, a funeral service will begin at 12:30 PM, with a graveside service to be held at Dayton National Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
In his too-brief time on earth, Joseph reminded us all of the beauty found in hard work, the strength of family bonds, and the simple pleasures of life. He will be deeply missed, and his loving spirit will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to assist with final arrangements, please call Newcomer Chapel to make a contribution if moved to do so.
