Joseph Martin Kelly, a devoted family man, proud veteran, and steadfast public servant, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, in Beavercreek, Ohio. Born on August 25, 1934, in Oneida, New York, Joe’s life was a testament to dedication, love, and faith that touched all who knew him.

A proud graduate of Oneida High School, Joe’s journey took him far beyond the borders of his hometown. He served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, a commitment that defined much of his early adult life and colored his sense of duty and patriotism. This period of service was but the beginning of his lifelong affiliation with the Air Force, where he continued his career as a federal civil servant. Joe lent his talents and steadfast work ethic to McClellan Air Force Base, Griffiss Air Force Base, and Wright Patterson Air Force Base, earning respect and admiration from colleagues and friends alike.

Joe’s loyalty to his country was mirrored by his devotion to his faith. As a devout member of the Catholic Church, and an active participant of St. Luke’s Parish in Beavercreek, he found strength and community that nourished his spirit throughout his life.

Beyond his professional and spiritual commitments, Joe was a man of simple joys. He delighted in watching the Cincinnati Reds, playing golf, chess, board games and enjoyed the nostalgic hobby of trading baseball cards, pastimes that offered him joy and camaraderie. A proud member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Joe’s connection to fellow veterans and his ongoing commitment to veteran affairs remained a vital part of his life.

Joe’s greatest pride and joy was his family. Survived by his beloved wife, Joan (Ranz) Kelly, and his children Lisa M. Kelly and John J. Kelly (Julie). Joseph’s legacy lives on vividly through his grandchildren: Maria C. Hudson (T.J.), Ryan J. Roth Jr., Cathleen Kelly and Caroline Kelly. His nephew Thomas L. Kelly, Jr. (Shawn), his nieces Mary Kelly and Nell Garrett. Their lives were brightened by his unwavering love and gentle guidance, which he considered his proudest accomplishment.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Thomas and Margaret (Farley) Kelly, and siblings Thomas Kelly (Midge) and Katheryn Garrett (Joe), whose memories he carried tenderly in his heart.

Joseph Martin Kelly's life was a beautiful mosaic of service, faith, and family. To know him was to witness a man who treasured the bonds of kinship and friendship, who served his nation with honor, and who approached each day with kindness and humility. His memory will forever be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to be part of his journey.

Family will be holding private services for Joe.
