Josapha "Jodie" Farmer, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 23, 2025, in Kettering, Ohio. Born on December 5, 1944, in Elizabethton, Tennessee, Jodie's vibrant spirit and infectious laughter touched the lives of many throughout her 80 years.
For 28 wonderful years, Jodie dedicated her hardworking spirit to General Motors/Delphi, where she was cherished not only as a diligent employee but also as a friend and confidante to her coworkers. Her work ethic and warm personality made her experiences there memorable, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Jodie's heart was most profoundly connected to her family, a connection solidified through countless cherished memories. She fondly remembered summers spent surrounded by her grandchildren - an experience she lovingly embraced with the motto, "the more the merrier." Her home was a haven of laughter and love, exemplified by her playful sign that read, "Grandma's babysitting service." She relished in each moment spent playing games, cheering at soccer matches, and sharing joyous outings at her favorite local bar, the White Sail.
Jodie was not your typical grandmother; she was affectionately known as the "funny old broad." Her charisma was matched only by her unique sense of humor, as she brought light and joy through her crazy antics and candid conversations. She enjoyed a good word game, often challenging herself on POGO, further showcasing her competitive and spirited nature.
She attended Ohio University, where she studied Journalism, a pursuit that aligned with her expressive personality and love for storytelling. Throughout her life, her proudest accomplishments remained firmly anchored in the hearts of her family, especially her grandchildren. For Jodie, they could do no wrong, and she unconditionally adored them through every step of their lives.
Jodie is survived by her loving son, Joe Farmer (Tami); her cherished grandchildren, Catherine Farmer (Blake Lance), Alexandra Farmer (Michael Mason), Victoria Farmer, Chelsea Nolte; and a great-grandchild, Charlotte, who brightened Jodie's world in her later years.
Her memory will also be honored by those who remember her, including her beloved mother, Maggie Church, and dear Aunt Ollie Cross, who predeceased her.
The visitation in celebration of Jodie’s life will take place on August 30, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek, Ohio, starting at 12:30 PM, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM.
As we gather to remember Josapha "Jodie" Farmer, let us reflect on the beautiful legacy of love, laughter, and joy she leaves behind, a vibrant tapestry woven through the hearts of her family and friends, which will endure for generations to come.
