Jon C. Henry, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born on June, 23 1942 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, the son of Kermit and Dorothy Henry.
Jon served his country in the United States Navy, active duty from 1966 until 1968. He served during the Vietnam War on the U.S.S. Cascade (AD-16), receiving honorable discharge as Petty Officer 2nd Class. Jon graduated with a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1965, from the University of Wisconsin. He graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and earned an MBA from Marquette University in January, 1976. On July 22, 1972, he was united in marriage to Donna Schumacher in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna of Troy; two sons, Douglas (Jodi) of Kettering, and Thomas (Renee) of Hilliard; and three grandchildren, Noah, Evan, and Samuel; and numerous other relatives and friends. Jon was employed by Harnischfeger Corporation in Milwaukee from 1970 until 1980, working as a Mechanical Engineer. He moved to Muskegon, MI in 1980, and was employed by Clarke Floors. In May, 1985, he moved to Troy, Ohio, where he was employed by BF Goodrich, until retiring in 2005. Jon's interests included fishing and collecting Lionel trains . He remained very active his entire life, enjoying his sons and grandsons. When relaxing, he enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, especially the Packers and Badgers.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd. in Dayton, where a service will be held at 7:00 p.m, officiated by Keith Wiggin. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Cynthia Africk, and the rest of the ICU/Trauma staff at Miami Valley for their excellent care.
