In Loving Memory of Joie “Jodie” Abney

Joie L. Abney, lovingly known as “Jodie,” was born on August 14, 1961, and passed away on October 1, 2026, in Riverside, Ohio.

Jodie spent many years working as a barber, where he had the opportunity to meet many people and form friendships along the way. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, feeling the freedom of the open road, going coon hunting, and spending time with his beloved dogs.

To those who knew him, Jodie was a loving and caring man with a good heart. He was a beloved son, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His presence brought love, laughter, friendship, and memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Jodie is survived by his daughter, Stacia Hochadel, and his three beautiful granddaughters, A’vah, No’vah, and Niylah, who will forever carry the love and memories they shared with him in their hearts. He is also survived by his siblings, Steve Abney, Mike Abney, Darrell Abney, Andrew Abney, and Kim Whitaker, as well as his best friend, Mark Terrell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doie Abney and Cynthia Abney.

Jodie leaves behind more than memories; he leaves behind pieces of himself in the people who loved him. His kindness, his friendships, his love for his family, and the moments shared together will never be forgotten. Though his absence will be deeply felt, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
