WILLIAMS, John Edward, 71 of Dayton, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2018. John was born in Dayton to Elery Williams and Mary (Williams) Kelly. John attended Miamisburg High School, graduating in 1965. He attended the Dayton Police Academy, becoming a full-time police officer in 1967. During his career he was promoted to Sergeant with the Dayton Police Department. He retired from Dayton after 25 years of dedicated service to the community. After his retirement from Dayton, John went on to work as a Crime Prevention Specialist with the Beavercreek Police Department for 14 years. He took great pride in his family. John was a loving, caring, and compassionate, husband, father, step-father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
John was preceded in death by his father, Elery Williams; step-father, Chester Courtney; brothers, Danny Lee Courtney and David Courtney; and sister, Yvonne Courtney.
John leaves to cherish his memory, loving wife, Carol Becker-Williams; mother, Mary Kelly; children, Wendy (David) Castro, Heather Williams, and Josh Williams; step-children, Angela (Andrew) Warner, Jennifer Becker, and Douglas (Tina) Becker; 7 grandchildren; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
