John Sylvis Willhelm, a beloved son, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully in Kettering, Ohio, on February 27, 2026, at the age of 55. Born on December 29, 1970, in Kettering, John was a cherished member of the community and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and remarkable achievements.

A proud graduate of Beavercreek High School, John was known for his intelligence and his mastery of mechanics, earning the title of ASE Certified Mechanic. His career spanned several esteemed organizations, including Centerville Automotive, Specialty Motorwerkes, Dayton Tire and owner of Willhelm Automotive. His profound knowledge and skills in automotive repair not only made him a revered figure in the industry but also allowed him to connect with countless individuals through his work.

John's personality was a vibrant tapestry woven with qualities that endeared him to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was often described as funny, loving, a daredevil, and incredibly intelligent. His adventurous spirit led him to pursue hobbies that reflected these traits, from riding motorcycles and building models to indulging in the thrill of car racing and enjoying football. He found great joy in spending time at Rocky Fork Lake and attending Ohio State Football games with his mom.

Family was John's proudest accomplishment. He is survived by his loving mother, Carol Willhelm-Hildebrecht, and his siblings: Johanna (Gary) McCargish, Amy Smith, Bobby Willhelm, Carol (Erik) Landing, and Stephen Willhelm. He also leaves behind a cherished family of nine nieces and nephews, eleven great-nieces and nephews, and two great-great-nieces and nephews who will carry forward his spirit and love.

John joins in eternal rest his father, Robert O. Willhelm, his sister, Dorothy Resor, and his grandparents, John and Lela Sylvis. Each of them holds a special place in his heart, and their memories will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.

As we remember John Sylvis Willhelm, let us celebrate the joys he brought into our lives, his unwavering capacity for love, and the laughter that echoed in his presence. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

A private service will be held for the family. John will be taken to Calvary Cemetery for an inurnment.
