John Howard Van Ness

John Howard Van Ness, age 78 of Jamestown, OH went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 21, 2018. He was born March 3, 1940 in Athens, Ohio to Samuel and Susan (Sprague) Van Ness. John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann (Hembree) Van Ness.

John proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He passionately loved the Lord, his wife, children and grandchildren. John enjoyed creating latch hook projects, which he shared with his family. He loved to talk about and share his passion for cars with friends and family and never met a stranger.

John is survived by his wife Ann; four daughters, Tammy (Michael) Slone, Deborah Fowler, Shelly (Shannon) Musick and Buffy (Russell) Reichley; three sons, Randy (Ramona) Van Ness, Brian (Susan) Van Ness and John (Kim) Van Ness; eleven grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Steven, Derek, Justin, Gavin, Brandon, Zachary, Christian, Bella and Justin; two great grandchildren; a sister, Karen Van Ness; his faithful companion Buddy; and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Gary and Donald Van Ness.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 25th from 10:30 to 12:00 Noon at Dayton Avenue Baptist Church, 1121 Dayton Avenue, Xenia, Ohio 45385. Funeral Services will be follow the visitation at the church at 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow at a later date at the convenience of the family.
