John T. Wertz "Jack", age 83, went to be with the Lord on February 4, 2016 in Dayton, Ohio. He was born to the late John Charles and Gertrude Helen Wertz (Thompson) on March 26, 1932 in Hollidaysburg, PA. His much-loved sister, Donna, introduced him to the love of his life, Vivian Marie, who he spent 61 wonderful years of love, laughter and faith in the Lord. He served in the United States Air Force for 28 years and was a Vietnam Veteran. After retirement of service, he worked at the Wright Patterson Pediatrics Clinic for 13 years. Jack and Vivian were actively involved in the life of their church, Huber Heights Church of God. Jack always had a special place in his heart for people less fortunate. He loved spending time with all of his children: Johnny, Mikey, Ricky, Bobby, Elaine, Kenny, Sean, Cindy, Scott and Brett as well as all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jack loved laughing and teasing with his honey, Vivian, having long conversations with his daughters, golfing with his boys and working in his garden. He is survived by his beloved wife, Vivian Marie (Majchrzak) Wertz; 9 children: Michael Allen (Hae Hwa), Eric Thomas (Beth Ann), Robert Joseph (Debra Kay), Elaine Marie (Gregory Eugene, deceased) Cerbus, Kenneth Francis, Sean Kelly, Cynthia Anne (Thomas Anton) Klarer, Scott Edward and Brett Andrew. Jack is also survived by his 23 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his oldest son John Joseph (2/18/2014), sisters Donna Jean and Madeline and son-in-law Greg. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in Jesus Christ ultimately gave him peace. A visitation will be held at Huber Heights Church of God on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 5:00pm-7:00pm with a funeral service to follow on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Huber Heights Church of God at 11:00am. A private burial will be held at Dayton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Missions Fund at Huber Heights Church of God in loving memory of Jack.
