Born on February 14, 1954, in Manchester, Kentucky. He graduated from Colerain High School, Class of 1972 and answered the call to served his country in the United States Army Reserve. He later served his community as a custodian for Middletown City Schools.

A man of few words, John was known for his gentle presence and faith. Those who were fortunate to know him remember his kind heart, hardworking spirit, and loving nature. His deep faith was evident in the way he lived his life. An ordained minister, he spent many weekends preaching in nursing homes, offering comfort and hope to those in need. He was also known for writing heartfelt prayers in his Bibles, singing hymns and reading scripture.

John’s greatest legacy lies in the love he gave to his family. With his late wife Debi Parks (Townsend), John served as a foster parent to 15 children over more than 15 years, adopting six of them. Together, they were honored as Butler County Ohio’s Foster Parents of the Year in 2003. He took great pride in being present for his children’s sporting events and cherished every moment spent with his family.

John is survived by his children: Jessie Parks, Axel (Norma) Parks, Carolyn (Joshua) Gretzinger, AJ Parks, Tim Parks, and Arya Parks; his cherished grandchildren: Tyler Parks, Angela Parks, Carina Gretzinger, Ronan Gretzinger, John Gretzinger, Sailor Mahorney, Caleb Parks, Phillip Johnathon Everage, and Athena Everage; his sister Sheila Parks; and others whose lives were touched by his quiet generosity, including Kelli and Kara.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Debi Parks (Townsend); his parents, John and Georgia Parks and his siblings, Gail Parks and Mike Parks.
