John M. Knight Jr.

It is with profound sadness that the family of John Maceo Knight Jr. announces his sudden passing on November 21, 2025 at the age of 54. John was born on August 5, 1971 in Detroit Michigan to Willie Mae Smith and Maceo Martin Jr. John graduated from Patterson High Schoot of Dayton Ohio. He also graduated Hocking College with an associates degree in Business and Management.

John married the love of his life, Cierra Knight on November 28, 2011. John’s wife and daughter were the center of his world. Every decision, every dream, and every moment of joy was shared with them. His deep affection and pride in his family were evident to all who knew him, and his greatest happiness came from the time spent together. 

He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend whose warmth, humor, and compassion touched everyone who knew him. John lived a life marked by dedication, integrity, and love for those around him. He was known for his generous spirit, his unwavering loyalty to family and friends, and his ability to bring joy and laughter to any room he entered. His presence was a source of strength and comfort, and his absence leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved him.

John’s life was filled with purpose and passion. His devotion to his family, he exemplified kindness and perseverance. He will be remembered for his strong character, his infectious smile, and his deep love for life. He lived his life to the fullest. He loved traveling, playing cards, basketball, going to the casino and most of all spending time with his family. 

He is survived by his wife Cierra Knight of 15 years, daughter Arniah, siblings Sheryl, Marvin, Thomas, Tamika, Maceo, Miya, Sharon, and Brandon. We will forever cherish his memory and carry his legacy forward. 

He was preceded in death by his mother Willie Mae Smith, father Maceo Martin Jr. and brother Christopher Martin. John Maceo Knight Jr. a beautiful soul, taken too soon, will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His love, laughter, and light will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know and love him.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 1-2pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. A burial will follow at Willow View Cemetery at 2:30pm.
