John Joseph O'Neill

O'Neill, John Joseph, age 92, of Oakwood, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the Oaks of West Kettering.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Clayton Deakins, Chester Deakins and Charles O'Neill; sister: Omer Mae (Deakins) Heath; his first wife: Elsie (Phillips); his second wife: Catherine (Kocsis); daughter: Melinda; and grandson: Mark Colton. He is survived by his daughter: Diana (O'Neill) Colton and son-in-law: John Colton Sr.; grandchildren: Tamara (Dave) Sandberg of Melbourne, FL, John (Linda) Colton Jr. of Reynoldsburg, OH, Stephanie Colton of Dayton and Jennifer (Kendall) Lawson of Kettering; great grandchildren: Michael (Brittany) Sandberg, Christine Sandberg, Alexander Sandberg, Benjamin Colton, Rebekah Colton, Jacob Lawson, Jeffrey Lawson and Jenna Lawson.

John was a tool and die maker for NCR for 25 years until his retirement in 1975. He was then employed as a crossing guard for the City of Oakwood for many years. John's hobbies included woodworking and gardening. The family would like to thank the staff of the Oaks of West Kettering for their loving care and compassion.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 14, 2012 at David's Cemetery in Kettering. Memorial donations may be made in John's honor to the charity of your choice.
