Mr. Superfantastic
John W. Haug, age 83, of Fairborn, Ohio passed away peacefully on May 30, 2018.
John was born August 15, 1934 in Warrenton, Missouri to the late John and Alice Haug. He was raised in Southern California where he graduated from San Gabriel Mission High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served three years. He proceeded to enlist in the U.S. Air Force where he served his Country for an additional 23 years. During this time, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Management from Park College in Parkville, Missouri.
He met the love of his life, Ana Maria while stationed at Torrejon AFB, Spain. They were married in November 1962 at the Iglesia Parroquial de San Miguel Arcanaes in Madrid, Spain. Out of their love, their son John and daughter Ana were born. Their son John married Jo Ann Sullivan and blessed them with two beautiful grandchildren; Julia and John. Their daughter Ana married Dale Jackman and blessed them with three beautiful grandchildren; William, Andrew, and Matthew. His grandchildren will remember him as a sweet, loving and doting grandfather.
He enjoyed westerns, milkshakes, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, solitaire, naps, and surveying his kingdom from his backyard swing throne. His frequent scooter trips around the block, talking with his neighbors and friends, showed his great positive attitude and gentle soul which earned him the title "Mayor of Burchwood Drive." While he was a man of few words, those he spoke conveyed great wisdom and strength. He was a faithful member of the Catholic community and attended seminary school in California. Our Lady Queen of Peace parish at Wright Patterson AFB enjoyed his service as a Eucharistic minister and active participant in their fellowship community. His unshakeable faith in God and his family enabled him to persevere and overcome the many obstacles that he faced throughout his life.
We would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and Aides at the Dayton VA Medical Center, Nursing Home, and Hospice for the wonderful, loving care they provided him. He received excellent care and support during his lifetime, especially during this difficult time this past year.
He was a superfantastic son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
