John Franklin Hahn

John Franklin Hahn, age 86, passed away on September 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

John was a proud United States Navy veteran, serving his country from 1959 to 1963 aboard the USS Hassayampa. During his service, he participated in Operation Dominic I and II, a series of nuclear tests conducted during the Cold War. As a result of this service, John was recognized as an Atomic Veteran and was honored with a medal commemorating his participation and sacrifice.

Following his military service, John began a long career with Ohio Bell/AT&T, where he worked for 32 years before retiring.

John had a lifelong love of music, particularly bluegrass, and enjoyed playing the guitar and writing his own songs. Music brought him tremendous joy and remained an important part of his life. He also loved cats and had a special affection for the feline companions who shared his life over the years.

John was a devoted father who spent years coaching and supporting his daughters’ soccer and tennis teams and being part of their lives as they grew up. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to laugh, and enjoyed making those around him laugh as well. Those who knew him will remember his humor, his stories, his music, and the personality that was uniquely his.

Above all, John loved his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Pam; his daughters, Jana and Laura (Isaiah); and his cherished grandchildren, Enoch and Azariah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Harry Hahn; his sister, Joyce; and his brother, Harry.

John lived a life marked by service to his country, decades of hard work, devotion to his family, music, laughter, and creativity. His songs, his humor, and the memories he created will live on in the people who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, remember him for his strengths and keep his family in your heart. He will be deeply and forever missed.

There will be a 2:00 pm Love and Song Graveside Service, including a military salute, at Mt. Zion Park Cemetery (Indian Ripple and South Fairfield Road in Beavercreek) on September 14, 2026. If you are unable to attend the graveside service, you can pay your respects from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home – Beavercreek Chapel (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, OH 45432).
