Listen to Obituary

John Michael Goubeaux passed away peacefully from natural causes on Monday, August 10, 2026. Born in Dayton, Ohio, on February 18, 1946, to Mildred and Cletus Goubeaux, John was the eleventh child welcomed into a loving, faith-filled Catholic family. After graduating from Chaminade High School in 1964, he pursued his passion for creativity at the Dayton Art Institute, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

While art was a lifelong passion, John brought his creative eye to his professional life as an interior designer. Through his work with Anthony’s Draperies and later as the owner of his own business, Beaux Drapery Company, he helped countless clients transform their living spaces. Beyond his talent, John was defined by his generous heart and dedication to service. He volunteered for nearly two decades at Miami Valley Hospital, served on several community boards, and was a faithful, regular blood donor. Above all, John cherished time spent with his extended family, always eager to lend a hand and share in their lives.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Cletus; his brothers Cletus (Patricia), Thomas (Josie), Robert (Pat), and Leo (Caroline); his sisters JoAnn and Helen; his brother-in-law Dick Seider; nephews Frederick and Andre Goubeaux; and dear friend Fronia Alexander.

He is survived by his sister Mary Ann Seider; sister Clare (James) Mikula; brother Carl (Sharon); sister Mildred (Ralph) Eakle; brother Gene (Sherry); and sister-in-law Judy Goubeaux. John’s legacy of love lives on through his 20 nieces and nephews, 38 great-nieces and nephews, and 24 great-great-nieces and nephews.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents at One Lincoln Park, Buckeye Home Health Care, and Buckeye Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

Services will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by Mass at 10:30 AM. A reception luncheon will take place immediately following Mass.
