John Raymond Cloppert Jr., age 82 of Xenia, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026 at Miami Valley Hospital South. He was born August 23, 1943 in Dayton, Ohio the son of the late John and Agnes Cloppert.
John graduated from Chaminade High School. He attended the University of Dayton where he earned undergraduate and Master’s Degrees in chemistry. John was employed at Inland and Delphi. There he worked developing the paddle steering wheel. John’s education continued. He earned a black belt in Six Sigma, a data-driven quality management system.
In 2016 John was a founding member of the Miami Valley Institute of Food and Spirits and served as Treasurer until 2025. This organization provides educational programs dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of the Dayton community. One program was Farm to Table, establishing student garden clubs at elementary schools.
John loved all kinds of music and enjoyed going to concerts with his friends. He loved to play his music loud at his home. John was an avid traveler and enjoyed learning about other cultures and sampling all kinds of food. He was an avid Formula One racing fan and was knowledgeable about every kind of car there was.
To say he will be missed would be an understatement. He was a very loving uncle, godfather, cousin, in-law, and friend. Always there to help and support in any way that was needed.
He was preceded in death by his parents John Raymond and Agnes, his sister Kay, and his loving wife, Pamela Murphy Cloppert. He is survived by his sister-in-law, his brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, Goddaughters, loving family members, and dear friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a Celebration of Life to follow at 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432). John will be laid to rest at Massie Creek Cemetery in Cedarville following the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of John Cloppert to Miami Valley Institute of Food and Spirits (MVIFS). Your contribution will be used for the Farm to Table charitable educational programs supporting Dayton area schools.
