John Frank Baker, age 78, from Dayton, Ohio passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, in Orlando, Florida.
He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer John A. Bole. He was a Vietnam veteran. He worked at Hobart Manufacturing in Dayton, Ohio for over 20 years, and years later he retired as a security guard in Orlando, Florida.
He loved being a father and grandfather. He helped his family by taking care of their family farm. He took care of all the outside chores, couldn’t have done it without him.
He is survived by his daughter, April Chamberlain (Baker), and his three grandchildren: Isabela (31) of Orlando, Florida; Katarina (29) of Orlando, Florida; and his wonderful grand boy, Luisito (24) of Orlando, Florida, who John called “one hell of a guy.” He is also survived by his former wife, Patricia Savage (Baker) of Orlando, Florida. They were married for over 20 years and still remained great friends.
John was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Baker; his mother, Thelma Baker; his sisters, Sherry Fannon and Linda Harris; and his brother, Edward Baker.
John had a love for life. He enjoyed each day like it was his last. He had a lot of great friends and truly left his mark in this world.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 23, 2026 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, and a Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 24, 2026 beginning at 10:30am at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton.
