John B. Fishburn, age 82, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family on April 26, 2026.
John was a graduate of Patterson Co‑Op High School and retired from the GM Inland Plant on Needmore Road after more than 25 years of dedicated service.
John loved his family, friends, motorcycles, and cars, and found his greatest joy just spending time with the people he loved. Whether turning a wrench or sharing a laugh, his family and lifelong friends will remember him as a gentle giant who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Helen MaGarg; his sister, Ruth MaGarg; and his son, Tim Fishburn.
He leaves behind his soulmate, Denise Jewett; his daughter, Susan Lake (James); his son, Jacob Kinnear (Megan); and his grandchildren, Casey Lake (Chasity), Justin Lake (Stephanie), and Tristan Dilley (Perry). He was also blessed with four great‑grandchildren: Carter, Cora, Brooke, and Ava.
A Celebration of Life will be held in John’s honor at the Irish Club, 6555 Dog Leg Road, next Friday, May 8, from 4:00 p m to 7:00 p.m., for all who wish to attend and celebrate his life.
John will be deeply missed by all who knew him for his kindness, compassion, and unwavering willingness to help others.
In lieu of flowers donations to Hospice of Dayton would be appreciated.
