John A. Butler

John A. Butler, age 54 of Dayton, Ohio went to be with the Lord on April 19, 2026. He was born December 2, 1971 in Dayton, Ohio. The son of the late John and Phyllis (Butler) McPhearson.

John was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed fishing, watching football especially his Dallas Cowboys, and spending time with his family. He was devout Christian who was a faithful member of Moraine City First Church of God. John will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing.

In addition to his parents, John was proceeded in death by his brother, Frank Butler; and nephew, Bobby Butler Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, April Smith-Butler; son, Devin (Ashley) Butler; brother, Bobby (Cherry) Butler Sr.; 2 other siblings; sister-in-law, Cynthia Greg; nieces and nephews, Robin Butler, Chris Greg, Sherria (Anthony Ponder) Butler, and Jeremy Butler; special friends, Eric Saunders, John Melke, Daniel Branch, and Richard; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 from 9:30am to 10:30am at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. A funeral service will begin at 10:30am with Pastor Donald Curtis officiating.
