Joe W. Myers Jr., aged 82, of Washington Township, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Born on April 29, 1944, in Dayton, Ohio, he was the cherished son of the late Joe W. Myers Sr. and Agnes McKenzie.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Joe dedicated his career to General Motors for nearly forty years, serving also as a police officer in Pitsburg and Ithaca, Ohio, and a Deputy Sheriff for Miami County.
Joe’s passions included his love for Harleys and rebuilding their engines, exploring the open road, firearms, classic black and white films, westerns, and sci-fi. He was a devoted fan of the Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, and Cleveland Browns.
Remembered as a "bad ass," Joe was a fearless thrill-seeker, known for his strong exterior and tender heart, earning the respect and admiration of the community. Above all, he cherished his family deeply.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 34 years, Sylvia; his children Lora (Rob) Absher, Barbie (Mike) Curtis, Charity (Eric) Graham, Lance Myers, Layla (Adam) Akilan, and Esther Myers; grandchildren, Jake (Amanda) Goeke, Blake (Jackie) Goeke, Gage (Jordan) Lesher, Cody Lesher, Alex (Marissa) Baldwin, Ethan Graham, Liam and Torey Graham, Brandon (Sarah) Myers, Brooke (Kevin) Ison, Brittany (Steve) Orona, Adam Akilan, and Addison Sweeney; great grandchildren, Aubrey, Callie, Walker, Myla, Ryker, Marin, Noelle, Atlas, Penelope; sisters, Vicki Gibson, Mary Atchison, and Sandy McKenzie; special niece, Natalie VanHorn and her daughter, McKenzie. Joe's legacy continues in the hearts and lives of his extended family and many friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Steve Atchison and Elmer Gibson, step-father Victor McKenzie, and his aunt and uncle who raised him, Oscar and Mary Myers, Joe's memory will live on through the love and stories shared by those who knew him.
