MIEDING, Joanne Marie, age 75, of Troy, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2017. Joanne was born in Beloit, WI to the late Carl F. and Noreen Kenney. Joanne graduated from The University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL after earning her bachelor's degree. She went on to earn her Master's degree in Social Work from University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, graduating in 1964. Joanne met her husband and love of her life, James Mieding during her graduate studies. The two were married in 1967.
Joanne devoted her life to the service of others. She worked for many years with St. Joseph's Children's Home and Orphanage, serving children and the community. After Joanne's retirement, she continued to volunteer and be an advocate for children and those with metal illness. She volunteered with National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
In her free time, Joanne enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family, and doting on her grandchildren. Joanne had a selfless soul and never spoke an ill word of others. She instilled that same virtue in her children. Joanne was a loving, caring, and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her sons, Jon Edgeworth Mieding and Joseph Charles Mieding; grandson, Noah James Mieding; nephew, Matt Mieding; and brother-in-law, Kent Mieding.
Joanne leaves to cherish her memory, husband of 50 years, James Ray Mieding of Troy; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Andrea Mieding of Jamestown, North Carolina; grandsons, Isaac William and Gabriel James; sister-in-law, Judy Mieding; nieces and nephews, Christi, Amy, Holly, Merry, Mick, and Will; daughter-in-law-to-be, Meredith; and many other loving relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Newcomer - North Chapel at 2:00pm. The family will greet friends and loved ones prior to the service from 12:30pm - 2:00pm.
Private family burial to be held at a later date.
