Listen to Obituary

JoAnn Dean, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, left this world on December 13, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on July 28, 1940, JoAnn dedicated her life to nurturing those around her and thriving in her career as a realtor for thirty years. Her infectious laughter and vibrant humor drew people to her, making her not only a successful professional but also a cherished friend to many.

Throughout her life, JoAnn was known for her impeccable style, always presenting herself with grace and elegance. Her fashionable closet reflected her outgoing personality. But it was her generous spirit and compassion for others that truly defined her. With her characteristic warmth and kindness, she made everyone feel seen and valued.

JoAnn's love for her family was unparalleled; she reveled in her role as NeNe, embracing the joy and laughter brought by her grandchildren, Mildred Dean and Maxwell Dean. They were the light of her life, and her heart swelled with pride when she spoke of them. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 57 years, Thomas Dean, with whom she shared a partnership grounded in love and mutual respect. Their bond was a testament to the joy of companionship.

She enjoyed traveling with her family, especially to Fort Walton Beach, Florida and Indian Lake, Ohio. In addition to her love for her family, JoAnn held an unshakeable affection for her pets, treating them with the same love and devotion she offered to her human family. Gardening was more than just another of her passions. She loved her garden, and tending to it allowed her to connect with nature and express her nurturing spirit.

JoAnn is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Dean; her devoted children, Joy Mills, Michelle Duncan (Luther), and Michael Dean; her adored grandchildren, Mildred Dean and Maxwell Dean and their mother, Amy Dean; her brother, Bob Baker (Anita); nephew, Alan Baker; and many more family and friends whose lives she touched in countless ways.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Baker; her father, Tommy Baker; and her uncle, Elmer Elliott. Their memories will forever be cherished by those who knew JoAnn, who embodied a life of love, laughter, and unwavering support.

As we mourn the loss of this remarkable woman, we celebrate the beautiful legacy she leaves behind-a life lived with purpose, filled with compassion, and surrounded by love. JoAnn Dean's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
