Joan Mae (Taylor) Weinland, born May 4, 1924, in Mooresville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, at the age of 101. She was the beloved mother of five children, of whom she is survived by three: David Weinland (Pam) of Avon, IN, Jean Rudegeair (Lance) of Yellow Springs, OH and Judy Farrar (Steve) of Marstons Mills, MA.

Joan was the second of six children born to Norma and Ray Taylor. After completing high school, she contributed to the war effort by working at the Army Map Service, where she skillfully drew maps of various sites in Japan and beyond for the troops. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Purdue University, where she met her husband, Bernard Weinland. Bernard, studying agriculture with a focus on poultry, became an inspector in rural Indiana.

As Bernard continued his education, earning graduate degrees, the family lived on a poultry research farm for many years. Joan dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mother until her youngest child began school. She then embarked on a career in retail, working at Sears Roebuck and Co., where she found joy in helping women choose their clothing.

The family's journey took them to Silver Spring, Maryland, as Bernard transitioned to computer programming. Joan embraced this new chapter, finding fulfillment in a larger Sears store and continuing her passion for helping others.

After several years, following her divorce from Bernard, Joan relocated to Sun City, Florida, where she remained active in various clubs and enjoyed traveling and cruising with friends. In her later years, seeking to be closer to family, she moved to One Lincoln Park in Kettering, Ohio, where she cherished time with her daughter, son, and their children and grandchildren.

Joan is remembered for her warmth, strength, and the love she shared with her family. She leaves behind three children, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.

A celebration of Joan's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the profound impact she had on all who knew her.
