Rev. Joan Tanks was a faithful member of the Living Faith Baptist Temple where she taught Sunday School for many years, and helped wherever she was needed. She was a woman that loved the Lord and her family. Rev. Tanks will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
While in New Orleans, she worked many years at the Danny's Sea Food place. In Dayton, she volunteered for "Clothes That Work" and the "MonDay Program". She was licensed to preach from House of Judah Church in New Orleans, Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Odessa Boyd, a brother, James Boyd. She is survived by her sons, Roger Boyd, Donald (Cherita) Tank, and Robert Boyd. Brothers, Wayne Boyd of New Orleans, Louisiana; Luther (Dorothy) Boyd of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Rev. Samuel (Shirley) Boyd of Dayton, Ohio. Sisters, Shirley Boyd Holland of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Drema Marks of Beckley, West Virginia. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Special Friends: Shirley Wilkinson, Doris Wilkinson, Anita Mims, Gloria Johnson, and Bill Lowe. Very special sister-in-law Shirley Boyd. Special nurse, Jennifer Boyd Norris, and special godson, Carlos Morrison.
