Joan Lee Hounshell

Joan Lee Hounshell passed away at her home on September 29, 2026. She was born on September 17, 1950, in Kettering, Ohio.

Joan graduated from Fairmont West High School and went on to build a long and steady career as an insurance agent, a profession she devoted herself to for 45 years. Her working life reflected commitment, consistency, and care.

Outside of work, Joan found joy in the simple and lasting things she loved most. She loved dogs and had dogs throughout her life. She also enjoyed plants and gardening, interests that brought beauty and comfort to her days.

Joan was preceded in death by her father, James Hinkley; her mother, Dorothy Hinkley; and her brothers, Doug Hinkley and David Hinkley.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Carl "Ed" Hounshell; brother, Jeff Hinkley, and her sister, Ann Schmidt. She also leaves behind her nephews, Scott Schmidt and his wife, Michele, Stephen Schmidt and his wife, Regina, and Aiden Hinkley; her great-nephew, Sam Schmidt; and her nieces, Lia Hinkley and Willa Hinkley. In addition, she is remembered by numerous family members and friends who will carry her memory with them.
