Jimmy R. Poole, passed away on January 13, 2026, in Tipp City, Ohio, at the age of 78. Born on April 14, 1947, in Inman, Virginia, he lived a life full of passion and joy, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and generosity.
Jimmy retired from Flowserve, formerly known as Duriron. He dedicated himself to his work while ensuring that his family was always happy and well taken care of, even during tough times. His love for his family was evident in everything he did.
He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969, stationed in Korea, an experience that undoubtedly shaped him into the brave and outgoing person he was known to be. Jimmy was never one to shy away from a conversation; his warm demeanor made it easy for him to make friends wherever he went. He had a lot of character and a truly loving heart.
Music was a constant in Jimmy's life, with Elvis being a particular favorite. He enjoyed long hours shopping for clothes with his daughters, always dressing in stylish outfits that reflected his expensive taste. Jimmy was also passionate about physical fitness and watching the Bengal’s play football. He had a love for fast cars, owning many over the years, such as a Ford Mustang, a 57' Chevy, a Chrysler Crossfire, and a couple Cadillac Eldorados. Dining out was another joy of his, with Texas Roadhouse being a preferred spot. He had a soft spot for his dog, Rudi, who expected new toys every time Jimmy came home—a testament to his generous nature.
Jimmy is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Cox & Charvis Morse Jr. and Kristin Vitali & Jay Vitali; their mother and his friend, Connie Swinson; grandchildren Eric Turnmire, Jordan Cox, Allison Cox & Andrew Warden, Miranda Woods, Luca Vitali, Emma Vitali, and Mia Vitali; great-granddaughter Claire Woods; his best friend and canine companion Rudi; along with many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Douglas and Opal Poole; his sister, Norma Coleman; and his uncle, Earl Thompson. Jimmy R. Poole will be remembered not just for his vibrant personality but for the love he shared with those around him.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 27th, 2026 from 11am-12pm at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, Ohio 45424. The service will follow at 12pm. Jimmy will be laid to rest with military honors at Dayton National Cemetery at 2pm.
