Jimmie Lee Hurd

Jimmie Lee Hurd 78 years of age passed away peacefully on Saturday March 9, 2024 with his family by his side at Kettering Hospital in Miamisburg , OH. He was born in Grand Junction, Tennessee on January 1, 1946 to the late Willie Lee Hurd and Irene Perry Hurd.

Jimmie moved to Dayton Ohio with his Wife in 1970. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather. Jimmie married the love of his life Emma Jean Selmer and from this union four beautiful children were born. Pamela Jean, Rodney Rochelle, Jimmy Dewayne and Danny Levon.

Jimmie worked in the automotive industry and established meaningful friendships and relationships for over 60 years. After his retirement, he took great pleasure in working alongside his son, Danny, at Hurd's Auto Detailing. He was the biological father of four, but he was called Dad by many. He never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off his back.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents Willie Lee Hurd and Irene Perry Hurd, his sons Rodney Rochelle and Jimmy Dewayne.

Jimmie leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of nearly 60 years Emma Jean Hurd. Also leaving behind his children: Pamela (Gerald) Cummings of Huber Heights, OH and Danny (Darci) Hurd of West Carrollton, OH. Eight grandchildren: Ashley, Marrio, Chasitee, Shazon, Gerald Jr., Jaden, Kiki & Devin and seven great grandchildren will miss their "Dada" and "Papa Hurd" more than words can express. Two sisters Willa Jean Hurd of Toledo, OH and Bobbie Jean Hurd of Hickory Valley, TN, one brother Jerry Hurd of Henderson, TN., brother-in-law, James (Faye) Selmer of Bolivar, TN and sister-in-law Carol (Godfrey) Howard, Olive Branch, MS., his aunt Gruteil Bills of Dayton, OH and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins. His oldest and longest friend Gary Norton (former co-worker) special friends Ted Hilton, Mike LeMaster and Floyd Weatherspoon, (former co-worker) and longtime family friend Virgina Talbott.

Jimmie has forever left his footprint in the hearts and souls of those he touched along life's journey. He will forever be our family's.

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Newcomer Centerville Chapel, 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, OH 45459. Jimmie's service will begin at 12:00pm on the following day, Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Newcomer Centerville Chapel.
