Jim Bailey Sr.

James L. Bailey I (Jim), age 75, of West Carrollton, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, June 14, 2025. He was born on July 4, 1949, in Dearborn, Michigan, the son of the late Andrew and Zelpha Bailey.

Jim graduated from Wayne Memorial High School and went on to work at Ford Motor Company, where he dedicated 31 years before retiring and relocating to Ohio. A man of many passions, Jim loved gardening and was especially talented at growing both flowers and vegetables. He was an avid woodworker, enjoyed painting ceramics, building model cars, and spending time with his model train sets.

Jim also had a great love for gambling—especially playing Texas Hold ’Em with his family (always for money, of course). Above all, he cherished the time spent with his wife, children, and granddaughters. His beloved dog, Mollie, held a special place in his heart. Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Deborah Bailey; his daughters, Tabitha Bailey and Heather Bailey (Bill Gay); his son, James L. Bailey II; granddaughters, Jenna Stivers and Ashley Gay; brothers, Andrew Bailey and Bryan (Alesha) Bailey, nieces (Jennifer & Christian); and many other cherished family members and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Judy Connely and Brenda Bailey.

A funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, June 20th, at Newcomer Funeral Home – Kettering (3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, OH 45439). Visitation will take place from 4:00 PM until the time of the service at 6:00 PM.
