Jill Elaine Riley, beloved wife, cherished sister, and dear friend, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, at her home in Jamestown, Ohio, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on January 24, 1967, in Springfield, Ohio, Jill illuminated the lives of all who had the privilege to know her.
Jill dedicated over 30 years of her life to YSI in Yellow Springs, where she made countless friends and contributed greatly to her community. She was a graduate of Xenia High School, Class of 1985. Her irreplaceable presence was marked by a personality that was simultaneously strong-willed and kind-hearted, with an honesty that was often refreshingly blunt. Not one to shy away from speaking her mind, you always knew where you stood with Jill. She was stubborn at times, but this was tempered by a generous spirit and a humor that could light up even the dullest days.
Jill absolutely loved traveling with her wife and close friends, whether it was cruising through the Caribbean or exploring the icy waters of Alaska, the allure of clear blue water drew her in. She loved swimming and snorkeling in the warm, clear waters of the Caribbean and we are sure she is there now. Nature was her sanctuary and she found immense joy in tending to her yard and flowers.
An avid woodworker, Jill loved creating unique gifts for her family and friends. Her handiwork often reflected her thoughtful nature and deep care for those she loved. Memories of Jill are filled with laughter and love, encapsulating her unwavering determination to care for those in her life. She was a true friend who would go to any lengths for the ones she cherished.
Jill leaves behind her beloved wife, Laura Taylor, siblings Mike (Eva) Riley, Joe Riley, and Kary (Leslie Hartman) Riley, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and one great-niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gary and Lavonne Riley, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms.
To celebrate her remarkable life and the indelible memories shared, a visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Jill's Life beginning at 6:00 PM, all to be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek. Everyone is encouraged to wear their brightest, most cheerful colors (Hawaiian shirts are welcome!)
Though Jill's journey on Earth has ended, her spirit, her laughter, and her love will continue to reverberate through the hearts of everyone she touched. As we gather to remember her, let us hold onto the warmth of her memory and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Dayton for the wonderful care given to Jill.
