Jesse Ragsdale Jr., a beloved figure in the Dayton community and a cherished entrepreneur, was born on May 18, 1948, in Dayton, Ohio. With a warm heart and an infectious laugh, Jesse left an indelible mark on all those fortunate enough to know him. He passed away on December 3, 2025, leaving behind a rich legacy of love, laughter, and culinary delights.

Jesse's life was filled with vibrant colors, much like the dishes he crafted as a proud chef. A graduate of Roosevelt High School in Dayton, he ventured into the Marines, serving honorably as a Corporal, specializing in Telecommunications. This experience, one of his proudest accomplishments, shaped him into a strong-willed and disciplined man.

As the life of every party, Jesse had a unique ability to uplift those around him. His warm, loving nature, combined with a sharp wit and a penchant for jokes, made him a supportive friend and family member to many. He was particularly fond of celebrating life’s milestones with his family and friends, finding joy in the smallest gatherings, and making every occasion memorable.

In his home and heart, Jesse found boundless joy in being a loving “Paw Paw” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His eyes lit up at the sight of them, and he cherished every moment spent together, whether they were sharing stories, playing games, or simply enjoying time in his beautiful garden. He adored tending to his plants, making them flourish as he flourished through life's ups and downs.

A member of the Mason's Lodge and American Legion, Jesse had hobbies that further complemented his spirited personality. He enjoyed cooking, bowling, and playing Pinochle and Dominos. Music was another great passion; he loved listening to jazz, allowing the soothing notes to wrap around him like a warm embrace. Always the sharp dresser, Jesse carried himself with a flair that reflected his vibrant spirit.

Jesse is survived by his brother, Otis (Vivian) Ragsdale; his three children, Rachelle (Gerald) Lovelace, Tasha Berry, and Johnny Black; his adored grandchildren, Algrea Lovelace, Adrianne (Laron) Shearer, Anthony (Deborah) Lovelace, Alanna Lovelace, DeAmber (Don) Galloway, Ravien Lawson, Lamar Townes, Daija Watson, and Tamaury Maxwell; as well as great-grandchildren Brandon, Breanne, Aubrey, Lalan, Landon, Lei'a, Maeva, Anthony Jr., Maelys, Alyssa, Skye, Jesiah, Aalani, Johnnie, Lou Ella, MJ, Cruz and Cree. He will also be missed dearly by his special nephew, Brian (Deana) Ragsdale, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who considered him family.

Jesse was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Ragsdale Sr.; his mother, Pearlene Willis; step-father, Ralph Willis; his beloved wife, Dorine Ragsdale; his son, Darryl "Buster" Black; his brother, Jerry Ragsdale; and his sister, Leona Ragsdale. Each of them leaves behind memories etched in Jesse's heart.

As we say goodbye to an extraordinary soul, we celebrate Jesse Ragsdale Jr. for the love he shared, the laughter he spread, and the unforgettable impact he made in the lives of so many. May his spirit continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
