Jerry Allen Woodbury , age 68 of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Victory Ridge at the Dayton V.A. Hospice. He was born October 20, 1956 in Willard, Ohio, the son of the late Francis and Elizabeth Woodbury.
Jerry graduated from Stivers High School Class of 1974, where he was a part of the alumni and reunion committees. He was inducted into the Stivers High School Athletic Hall of Fame, where he excelled at baseball. He also participated in football and wrestling. He was also an honorary member of Patterson Co-Op Class of 1977. Jerry is a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and a diehard fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes. He was also president of the Miami Valley Water Garden Society for 20 years. He was an avid gardener, and loved maintaining the pond and landscaping. He was also a member of the Miami Valley Hosta Society. Jerry was a member of Shroyer Road Baptist Church, where he ran the food pantry with his best friend, Charlie Hicks, for the past 13 years. He was also active in the Dayton cancer support community. He and his wife, Patty, were world travelers. They traveled to 24 countries and 46 states.
Jerry is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 44 years, Patricia. They were blessed to have each other as best friends and world travelers for 51 years. Throughout the ups and downs of life, their relationship is an example of what true love should look like.
Jerry also leaves behind his sisters, Becky Williams, Barb Hurt, and Angi (Sam) Voris; brother, Terry Woodbury; nieces and nephews, Megan (Chris) Franer, Heather (Shawn) Williams, Misty (Bob) Cowan, Ricky Lee Williams, David Williams, and Kaitlyn (Adam) Schwartz; numerous great nieces and nephews; several great-great nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Mable Speakman; aunts, Mary Warbutton and Chris Deaton; as well as many amazing lifelong friends and family. He was also an amazing dog Dad, and leaves behind his beloved dog, Lucky.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Tom Woodbury; father-in-law, Charles Deaton; uncle, Arnold Deaton; and brothers-in-law, Rick Williams and Dean Hurt.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45459). Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 12:00 pm, also at the funeral home. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 2:00 pm at Dayton National Cemetery (4400 W. Third St., Dayton, OH 45428). As a tribute to Jerry's love for The Ohio State Buckeyes, feel free to wear something "Ohio State themed" in his memory.
