Jerry Bedford Wilson, born December 2, 1946, in Dayton, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, in Oakwood, Ohio. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of service, faith, patriotism, and love for his family.
Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. A devoted supporter of veterans, he was known for his weekly visits bringing bagels to fellow veterans, always wearing his signature Vietnam Vet hat.
After his military service, Jerry worked for more than 25 years as a Journeyman Plumber with General Motors and later at the Dayton VA. He was also the person his family could always count on to fix anything and lend a helping hand.
Jerry’s faith was at the heart of his life. After earning his associate’s degree from Dayton Bible College, he served as pastor of Calvary Christian Center in Dayton for more than ten years. His kindness, generosity, and faith touched countless lives.
Jerry found joy in cheering for The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Bengals, but his greatest joy was being a father and grandfather. He cherished every moment with his family and was always willing to put others before himself.
He is survived by his children, Rachel R. Emerson (Mark), Tina M. Bustillo (Ty), and Jeremy S. Wilson (Beth); and his grandchildren, Brandon Bustillo, Brittany Benning, Thomas Bustillo, Demitryus Emerson, Reece Wilson, Luke Wilson, Quinten Emerson, and Deklan Emerson. He is also survived by siblings Vicky, Carolyn, Mary, Steve, Paul, Andy, and Mark Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nora and Rennie Wilson, and siblings Roy, Connie, and Twana Wilson.
Jerry’s unwavering kindness, enduring faith, and dedication to his family, country, and community will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A graveside service will be held. Family, friends, and all whose lives Jerry touched are welcome to join in honoring and celebrating his life. To share a memory of Jerry or leave a special message for his family, please visit the Guestbook below.
