Jerry Welch, born on June 17, 1945, in Wilder, TN, passed away on December 22, 2025, in Dayton, OH. A dedicated and valiant 24-year Army veteran, Jerry proudly served his country with two tours in Vietnam along with numerous assignments around the world. His commitment to service was mirrored by his generous spirit and kind heart, traits that endeared him to many.
Throughout his life, Jerry was known for his unwavering generosity, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His sense of humor and ability to create affectionate nicknames for his friends and loved ones brought joy and laughter into the lives of everyone around him.
Jerry cherished the simple pleasures in life, including fishing and playing pool. Hockey games were a special highlight, often enjoyed with his brothers, fostering deep bonds of camaraderie among them. In addition, music held a significant place in his heart, particularly his love for playing the guitar.
He is survived by his son, James Welch, and the mother of his son, Charmion Borton. His legacy continues through his siblings, Ann Welch, Dona Martin, Thomas (Carolyn) Welch, and Gary (Debra) Welch, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who will remember him fondly.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ida Welch; his sisters, Deborah Vest and Brenda Magnon; his brothers, Jim Welch Jr. and Ralph Welch; and his brother-in-law, John Martin.
Jerry Welch's life was one of generosity, kindness, and laughter, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him. His memory will live on through the love and stories shared by his family and friends.
