Jerry Wayne McGinnis passed away on August 26, 2026, at the age of 77. He was born on September 28, 1948, in Springfield, Ohio.
Jerry was a graduate of Springfield High School and worked for many years on fire suppression systems for Silco. He gave his time generously through Helping Hands and with different churches, where he created artwork for posters. An ordained minister, he also served as a missionary preacher in Texas.
He was a man of many interests and deep enthusiasm. Jerry was a lifelong science fiction fan who enjoyed Star Trek, Star Wars, and many others. He built models of ships and planes, and in his younger years he was a body builder dedicated to physical fitness. He liked swimming and was an avid fisherman who took the kids fishing, creating memories that will be treasured.
Above all, Jerry will be remembered by the family who shared his life. He is survived by his wife, Sheila, and their three daughters, Catina L. McGinnis, Crystal S. Dean, and Candie F. (Jeremy) Emrick. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Brittany E. (Mark) Hutchins, Jonathan B. (Kerrigan) Hanselman, Crystal M. (Isaac) Nottingham, Destiny E. Dean, Devin T. Armbruster, Dennis M. Dean, III, Dylan T. Dean, Isabella L. McGinnis, Landon M. Blaettner, Jacob W. McGinnis, Brenleigh N. Emrick, Araya M. Garrett, Cynthia A. Emrick; and his 12 Great-Grandchildren. Their lives carry forward the love, guidance, and steady presence he gave so freely.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Armbruster, and by his parents, Cletus McGinnis and Wanda McGinnis.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Miamisburg Temple of Praise, 9840 Clearcreek Franklin Rd, Miamisburg, Ohio 45342.
